Rockport Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Press releases may be sent to Goings on, Gloucester Daily Times, 36 Whittemore St., Gloucester, MA 01930, sent via email to gdt@gloucestertimes.com or faxed to 978-282-4397. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Free screening

A free screening of the one-hour documentary “On The Edge — Living with Epilepsy” will take place Tuesday, April 9, 7:30 p.m., at the Shalin Liu Performance Center, 37 Main St., Rockport. Tom Berger and Andree Robert of Gloucester will host the screening of the film by Louis Stanislaw to help spread understanding about this condition. A reception will follow. Tickets can be reserved by calling 978-546-7391, ext. 102.

OGBA cleanup

The Old Garden Beach Association will host its Earth Day cleanup at Old Garden Beach on Saturday, April 20, from 8 to 11 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help with planting and general landscaping. Friends, neighbors, members and nonmembers are welcome. Bring gloves, rakes, clippers, etc. Trash bags will be supplied.

RMS fundraiser

The Rockport Middle School seventh-grade class will hold a fundraiser Monday, April 8, 4:30 to 9:30 p.m., at Jalapeno’s Mexican restaurant, Main Street, Gloucester. Proceeds support seventh-grade field trips this spring.

Operation Smile

Oasis Rockport will participate with photographers around the country in a portrait promotion supporting Operation Smile, which provides free surgeries for children around the world who have cleft lips, cleft palates or other facial deformities. Along with other members of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Oasis Rockport will offer an individual portrait session and a desk-size portrait in exchange for a $24 donation to PPA Charities. The event will take place Saturday, April 6, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Emerson Inn by the Sea. To schedule a session, call 978-290-3184.
