Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Singing Seniors

Seniors who love to sing will love this: A. Jorgelina Zeoli (Jayzee) is offering music classes at the Rose Baker Senior Center on Tuesday afternoons. Four weekly hour and a half sessions learning simple breathing and vocal exercises, to help expand vocal abilities, variety of styles, from standards to sacred. Call the COA at 978-281-9765.

Legion Post open

The Capt. Lester S. Wass American Legion Post 3 opens its smoke-free lounge for members and guests, Monday through Friday, at 3 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, at noon; and is open during many holidays. The upstairs hall may be rented for special events. Call 978-283-9710 after 3 p.m. for information.

Seniors learn Facebook

The Council on Aging Computer Program volunteers are offering seminars for seniors interested in learning social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, etc. To sign up, stop by the reception desk at the Rose Baker Senior Center or call 978-281-9765.

Open Door meals

On Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the Open Door Food Pantry, 28R Emerson Ave., serves a family-style meal from 5 to 6 p.m., and Sundays, 4 to 5 p.m. Call 978-283-6776 ext. 204, for a free van ride. Visit www.foodpantry.org.
