Ashley Sands and Nicole Lucido, both students at Salem State University in Salem, have been inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

These students have earned bachelor’s degrees from the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt.: Nancy Frye (art history) and Karl Roth (civil engineering).

Kelsey Menici has been awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from Curry College in Milton. She was also named to the school’s 2013 spring term dean’s list.

Margaret Muniz has been named to the 2013 spring term dean’s list at Curry College in Milton.

These students have earned bachelor’s degrees from Merrimack College in North Andover: Bryan Biliato (business administration and French), Jaclyn Arnold (athletic training), Robert Lowe (business administration), Alexandria Orlando (psychology), Leah Palazola (mathematics), Salvator Taormina (economics), Aaron Tibbetts (history), Melanie Tobey (sociology), and Alicia Unis (communication studies).

Alden French was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. He was also named to the school’s 2013 spring semester dean’s list. A 2009 graduate of Middlesex School in Concord, he is the son of Alden and Elizabeth French of Gloucester.

Anne French has graduated from Westminster School in Simsbury, Conn.

Gloucester native Kelley Connors Golden completed a full Iron Man triathalon in The Woodlands, Texas, on May 18. The triathalon took place in 100-degree heat. She is the daughter of John and Polly Connors of Gloucester. Kelley’s son, John Golden, also a Gloucester native, is a junior at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he recently attained the first place finish in an intercollegiate half-marathon, leading the field of 623 runners while breaking the school’s all-time record to complete the event in 1 hour, 12 minutes, and 49 seconds.

These students have been awarded bachelor’s degrees from Connecticut College in New London, Conn.: Devon Booth (government) and Asa Welty (psychology).

Samuel Marquez has graduated, cum laude, from Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Ala., with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Sarah Johnson graduated, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, with a bachelor’s degree in government and legal studies-environmental studies.

The Maine Conservation Corps (MCC) recently welcomed Paul Morris, of Gloucester, to serve as a team member and AmeriCorps volunteer for the 2013 season. Morris is the son of James and Margaret Morris, also of Gloucester, and a 2009 graduate of Gloucester High School. He currently studies Environmental Conservation Studies at the University of New Hampshire.

Maurice McCabe Schmelzer has graduated from Boston College High School in Boston. He recently won a National Achievement Program Outstanding Participant award at Senior Class Assembly, a time set aside to celebrate and reward its seniors.

These students have each received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clark University in Worcester: Thorsen Akerley (environmental science), Carson Stevens (magna cum laude, history), Francis Freedman (summa cum laude, history), and Katherine Stone (theater arts).

Alison Randazza was awarded a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. She was also named to the school’s 2013 spring semester dean’s list.

Chloe Rideout has graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, with a Bachelor of Science degree in architecture.

Ethan Formichella, a member of the Class of 2014 at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., has received honors at the college this spring. He is the son of Laurie Formichella and James Formichella, both of Gloucester. Formichella has been elected to the New York Alpha Theta Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, the national mathematics honorsociety. Incorporated in 1914, the society’s purpose is the promotion of scholarly activity in mathematics.

Hayley Labrecque, a student majoring in psychology, has been named to 2013 spring semester president’s list at Western New England University in Springfield.

Michael McGovern, a member of the Class of 2013, has been named to the 2013 spring semester dean’s list at Stonehill College in Easton.

Katherine Ciaramitaro, a graduate of Gloucester High School, will attend Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., as a member of the Class of 2017. Ciaramitaro, who will be majoring in civil engineering, will begin studying at Clarkson in the fall.
