Gloucester author JoeAnn Hart speaks, 7 p.m., Brenner Room, Rockport Library, at annual meeting of the Friends of the Rockport Library. Hart’s new novel, FLOAT —an environmental exploration of art, industry, plastics in the ocean and life in a hardscrabble seaside town in Maine, was a finalist for the Dana Award in the Novel. Free and open to the public.

Rockport Recreation Department’s Pilates/Yoga Class, 6 to 7 p.m. Rockport Community House, 58 Broadway. $60/12 classes, $8/drop in fee. 978-546-1309.

Friends of the Rockport Public Library annual meeting, 7 p.m., library’s Brenner Room, School Street. Guest speaker: Gloucester author JoeAnn Hart. Open to the public. All welcome.

Rockport Old Garden Beach Association annual cocktail party, 5 p.m. at the home of Doreen Gove, 16 Dean Rd. BYOB and bring your own lawn chair. All friends, neighbors, members and nonmembers are welcome.

Spiran Lodge 98’s Midsummer Fest, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Harvey Park, corner of Broadway and Mount Pleasant Street. Scandinavian folk music and dancing, children’s activities, Swedish meatballs, strawberries and cream, nisu and coffee, Scandinavian gift table and more.
