Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Women’s Community Club

The Women’s Community Club of Magnolia will meet Tuesday, April 9, 7 p.m., in Jones Hall, Magnolia Library Center. Bingo will follow. Members are asked to bring a $5 gift card to be given out as prizes. Donna Keyck and Cathy Doe will host. Call Carol Sutherland at 978-525-3773.

LCC meeting, potluck

The Lanesville Community Center will host its annual open meeting and pot-luck Sunday, April 7, 4 to 6 p.m., at 8 Vulcan St. Bring a dish to share.

GWC poetry salon

The Gloucester Writers Center, 126 East Main St., will host its fifth poetry salon, featuring poets Gerrit Lansing and Fanny Howe, on Saturday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. Parking available across the street. Desserts served from 7 to 7:30 p.m.

Cape Ann Forum

The next Cape Ann Forum will take place Sunday, April 7, 7 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church, corner of Church and Middle streets. International aid expert John Hammock will discuss “New Ways to Measure Poverty — And to Fight It.” Free and open to the public.

Video composition workshop

Cape Ann TV staff member and videographer Andrew Love will present a video composition workshop Tuesday, April 2, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Cape Ann TV, 38 Blackburn Center. The class is for the novice filmmaker who wants to take their projects to the next level, and covers the rules and aesthetic guidelines industry professionals follow when crafting their camera shots. Cost is $10, free for Cape Ann TV members.
