League of Women Voters
The League of Women Voters of Cape Ann will meet Tuesday, April 9, 10 a.m., at St. John’s Church, Middle Street. All are welcome. The league is a nonpartisan political organization of women and men that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, especially at the grassroots level. The Lanesville Community Center will host its annual open meeting and pot-luck Sunday, April 7, 4 to 6 p.m., at 8 Vulcan St. Bring a dish to share.
Cape Ann Forum
The next Cape Ann Forum will take place Sunday, April 7, 7 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church, corner of Church and Middle streets. International aid expert John Hammock will discuss “New Ways to Measure Poverty — And to Fight It.” Free and open to the public.
The Cape Ann Cursillo Community will hold its next ultreya and pot-luck Saturday, April 6, at St. John’s Church in Essex. The pot-luck is at 5 p.m., followed by the ultreya at 6 p.m. All are welcome and need not have been on a cursillo encounter weekend to attend. Call Al Mitchell at 978-879-3655.
