Manchester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Chili & Chowder Fest

First Parish Church will host a Chili & Chowder Fest to benefit Wellspring House on Saturday, April 6, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at 1 Chapel Lane, Manchester. Tickets are $10 for adult, $5 for children under 12. Lunch includes chili, chowder, a beverage, hot dogs and assorted desserts. Free parking available behind Town Hall. ‘Power of the Purse’ event

The Women’s Fund of Essex County will host the fifth annual “Power of the Purse” fundraising event Thursday, April 4, 6:30 to 9 p.m., at Brookwood School in Manchester. The event will include hors d’oeuvres and wine, and a raffle featuring chances to win distinctive purses and bags donated by renowned designers and retailers. All proceeds fund special projects and annual grant awards made by The Women’s Fund throughout Essex County. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door. Visit www.thewomensfundec.org.

COA Yoga

The Manchester Council on Aging offers a yoga class Thursdays at 10 a.m. This gentle yoga is done in seated and standing postures. Call Nancy Hammond at 978-526-7500.

Homebound books

The staff of the Manchester Public Library reminds residents that they may drop off and pick up library materials for residents who are homebound, either temporarily or permanently. Call 978-526-7711.
