Poets Corner: Last Night

Last night, last night

the stars did shine so bright.

They seemed so close,

a sparkling mantle proclaiming

God's glory

spread from heaven to earth,

clusters of brilliance

in forms we can imagine

telling tales of old.

Or are they of new?

things to be,

unknown to you and me.

Tonight, tonight

what shall I see

beyond this place

of fathomless grace?

A misty coating

that I may see no more?

Alas, rest, be ready

for whatever is in store.
