Saturday, May 25

Free Artist’s Plein Air Day, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Cogswell’s Grant, 60 Spring St. North Shore artists paint beautiful vistas including Essex River, Great Marsh, landscapes, and 18th century historic house and barns. Free beverages and snacks. Free museum tour for artists. Call Kristen Weiss at 978-768-3632.

Essex Veterans of Wars’ annual Memorial Day exercise, 9 a.m., Shepard Memorial Park. All welcome. Veterans, joined by police, fire and scout group members, lead with members of Manchester Essex Regional band.

Monday, May 27

Memorial Day Parade, 9 a.m., in front of Town Hall, Memorial Park, 24 Martin St. downtown Essex. Military rifle salute to our country’s war veterans. Town officials lead members of school band and various athletic organizations.

Tuesday, May 28

Essex in the Civil War, 7:30 p.m., Essex Shipbuilding Museum, 66 Main St. For the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Learn all about the small but interesting parts Essex built vessels played in war.

Saturday, June 1

Essex National Heritage Area Photo Safari with Tamron, 8 a.m. to noon, Cox Reservation, 82 Eastern Ave.

SATURDAY, JUNE 8

Cape Ann Cursillo Community’s final ultreya/pot luck of the season, 5 p.m., after 4 p.m. Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, Essex. Ultreya at 6 p.m. All welcome and need not have been on an encounter weekend to attend. Call Al at 978-879-3655.
