Rockport Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Press releases may be sent to Goings on, Gloucester Daily Times, 36 Whittemore St., Gloucester, MA 01930, sent via email to gdt@gloucestertimes.com or faxed to 978-282-4397. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Halibut cleanup

On Saturday, April 20, Halibut Point State Park will participate in a day of statewide volunteer service of Massachusetts state parks. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., join us at Halibut Point in Rockport and help with the coastal clean up to get the summer season off on the right start! Parking is free for the day. Shakespeare’s birthday

Celebrate William Shakespeare’s 449th birthday and Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe’s fifth anniversary with an evening of scenes, sonnets, songs, refreshments and door prizes on Tuesday, April 23, 7:30 p.m., at the Rockport Community House, 58 Broadway. Tickets are $10, $5 for students, and are available at the door. To reserve tickets, email cast2008@prodigy.net. Audience members are invited to bring pieces they would like to read. Recreation programs

The Rockport Recreation Department will offer these classes:

T-ball program, for kindergartners through second-graders, begins April 27.

Interactive summer day camp, featuring arts and crafts, sports, and games, meets July 1 to Aug. 8. $195.
