Rockport Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Press releases may be sent to Goings on, Gloucester Daily Times, 36 Whittemore St., Gloucester, MA 01930, sent via email to gdt@gloucestertimes.com or faxed to 978-282-4397. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Family Fun Day

Sandy Bay Preschool, a nonprofit parent cooperative, celebrates its 40th year with a Family Fun Day on Saturday, March 16, 10 a.m. to noon, at the Rockport Community House, 58 Broadway. Features games, crafts, face-painting, a Wayne from Maine concert from noon to 1 p.m., prizes and more. Admission is $5 per person, $20 per family. Proceeds support the preschool. Recreation programs

The Rockport Recreation Department will offer these programs:

Adult indoor soccer meets for eight weeks, 7 to 9 p.m., in the Rockport High School gym, beginning Wednesday, March 13. Cost is $20.

Hip Hop Hula Hoops, for students in kindergarten through grade five, meets Saturday, March 16, 10 to 11 a.m., at the Rockport Community House, 58 Broadway. $5 drop-in fee.

‘Power of the Purse’ event

The Women’s Fund of Essex County will host the fifth annual “Power of the Purse” fundraising event Thursday, April 4, 6:30 to 9 p.m., at Brookwood School in Manchester. The event will include hors d’oeuvres and wine, and a raffle featuring chances to win distinctive purses and bags donated by renowned designers and retailers. All proceeds fund special projects and annual grant awards made by The Women’s Fund throughout Essex County. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door. Visit www.thewomensfundec.org.
