Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Fun Day 4 Kidz fundraiser

The JJ Nicastro Foundation’s Fun Day 4 Kidz fundraiser will take place Saturday, June 15, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Gorton’s parking lot. The inflatable carnival features bounce houses, an obstacle course, basketball shot, boxing ring, giant slide, dunk tank, Slugger’s Lane, bungee run, hot dogs and hamburgers, cotton candy, face-painting, slush, a DJ, characters, games, prizes and more. All proceeds benefit the JJ Nicastro Foundation. Visit

TIA meeting

The Thacher Island Association will hold its annual meeting Monday, June 17, 7:30 p.m., at the Rockport Community House, Broadway, Rockport. The public is invited. Learn more about both Thacher and Straitsmouth islands, how you can visit, become a member or a volunteer. Hear about the past year’s accomplishments and future plans. Admission is free.

Amateur radio demo

The Cape Ann Amateur Radio Association will hold an outdoor amateur radio demonstration Saturday, June 22, 2 p.m., at the Fuller School field. The event, “Field Day,” is held nationwide and will run for 24 hours straight, until 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23. The public is invited to stop by any time. Learn how amateur radio operators communicate around the world using Morse Code to today’s computer technology.
