Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Due to the volume of goings on listings received by the paper, listings are alternated once they run and the same listings are not printed every day.

Shopping Spree!

Downtown Gloucester’s 3rd annual Shopping Spree kicks off today, Gloucester’s own ‘Black Friday,’ and this year the spree is worth $1,500, which is up another $400 big bucks from last year!! Fifty four downtown merchants have joined this Super Shopping Spree. How does it work? Every time you make a purchase from any of the participating businesses, you’ll get a ‘Free Spree’ entry to win the $1,500! So look for posters in participating shops, an get shopping and watch your chances add up!

Giant penny sale

Mark your calendar for Dec. 1, and be there when the doors open at 5 p.m. at Msgr. Sullivan Church Hall, Pleasant Street, for a big, fun family night penny sale fundraiser hosted by St. Ann School. Get into the holiday spirit as you support your local school, with super prizes, certificates, toys, and merchandise donated by local businesses, including Cape Ann restaurants, many unique articles donated by parents and faculty added to the prize list, and games starting at 6 p.m., with several rounds of play to put the final touches on the night.

Solstice Stroll

The Trustees of Reservations invite you to join us for a candlelight Solstice Stroll in Ravenswood Park on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 4 to 6 p.m. Celebrate the solstice sky with your family in our favorite woodland park followed by a warm fire, S’mores, and hot chocolate. Please bring a non-perishable item for donation to the Cape Ann Open Door Food Pantry. Free to Trustees members; $5 to nonmembers.
