Cape Ann TV’s annual Santa party, 3 to 7 p.m., 38 Blackburn Center, Gloucester. Children invited to meet Santa Claus. Meetings with Santa will be videotaped and shown on CATV’s Channel 12 on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Free and open to the public. Saturday, Dec. 8

Christmas concert, “The Reason for the Season,” 7 to 9 p.m., Emmanuel Community Church, 180 Western Ave. Music, comedy, food and fun for all ages. Doors open at 6 p.m. Donations appreciated.

Nutcracker party, 2 p.m., TOHP Burnham Library. “The Nutcracker” with storyteller Carolyn Martino, For children 5 and older. Followed by holiday fare. Free, but space limited. To register, call 978-768-7410 asap, or email awanner@mvlc.org.

Cape Ann cursillo community ultreya and pot-luck supper, 5 p.m., St. John the Baptist Church in Essex. Ultreya follows potluck at 6 p.m. All are welcome and need not have been on a cursillo encounter weekend.. Call Al Mitchell at 978-879-3655.
