Rockport Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Press releases may be sent to Goings on, Gloucester Daily Times, 36 Whittemore St., Gloucester, MA 01930, sent via email to gdt@gloucestertimes.com or faxed to 978-282-4397. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Legion Band concerts

The Rockport Legion Band will present free Christmas concerts Friday, Dec. 7, at Rockport Methodist Church; Thursday, Dec. 13, at Rockport Congregational Church; and Thursday, Dec. 20, at Denmar and Seacoast nursing homes in Gloucester. All concerts begin at 7 p.m.

Holiday party

The Council on Aging will hold its holiday party Wednesday, Dec. 12, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Rockport Senior Center, 58 Broadway. Lunch provided by SeniorCare Nutrition Program and the Rockport COA. Menu includes roast lamb with gravy, whipped potatoes, green beans, red velvet cupcake and knotted roll. Cost is $2. Entertainment provided by Tony Malionek. Reservations required; call Freda 978-546-2573.

Free music program

The Council on Aging will present a free hour-long performance by Tornado Terry & the Twisters on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 7 p.m., at the Rockport Senior Center, 58 Broadway. All are welcome. Call 978-546-2573.

Empty Bowl painting

Empty Bowl painting for The open Door will take place Wednesday, Jan. 9, 1 to 3 p.m., at the Rockport Senior Center. Admission is free. To register, call 978-546-2573. All are welcome.

Senior trips

The Rockport Senior Center will travel to Newport, R.I., on Dec. 6, to visit the Marble House Mansion and have lunch at Lancetta’s; then visit LaSalette Shrine for Father Pat’s concert and Festival of Lights. Call 978-546-2573.
