Tree lighting

BankGloucester will hold its annual tree lighting Monday, Dec. 10, from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by a reception in the bank lobby to benefit Hospice of the North Shore.

Shopping Spree

Downtown Gloucester’s third annual Shopping Spree is worth $1,500, up another $400 big bucks from last year! Fifty-four downtown merchants have joined this Super Shopping Spree. How does it work? Every time you make a purchase from any of the participating businesses, you’ll get a Free Spree entry to win the $1,500! So, look for posters in participating shops, an get shopping and watch your chances add up!

Stockings for homeless

On Friday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m., seniors at the Rose Baker Senior Center Social Day Care Program are filling homemade stockings with personal care and other items for folks living at the homeless shelter. All are invited to stop in with donations, pitch in, and join in the spirit of holiday giving. Call 978-281-9765, ext. 20.

DAV Christmas party

The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 74 will hold its annual Christmas party Tuesday, Dec. 11, 6:30 p.m., at the Veterans Center, Emerson Avenue. All brothers are invited.

Santa Breakfast

8 to 11 a.m., Gloucester Fraternity Club will host a Santa Claus Breakfast on Sunday, Dec. 16, from 8 to 11 a.m., at 27 Webster St., with pancakes, sausages, friends, and fun foto ops with Santa! All are welcome; donations will be gratefully accepted.

AGH cancer drive

Addison Gilbert’s American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program is in great need of volunteers to drive local cancer patients to and from treatments. Many patients find transportation to and from these critical treatments a challenge; volunteers’ schedules are flexible, treatment are on weekdays, primarily during business hours. A volunteer willing to drive even once a year can make a life-saving difference! AGH will hold a volunteer information and training session at AGH, 298 Washington St., on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon. 12:00 p.m., in the Longan Room.
