“Fantastic Wood Sculptures,” 10:30 to noon, Essex Shipbuilding Waterline Center. All welcome, children under seven must be accompanied by adult. Wood, hammers, nails, imagination make magic! For more information, email: education@essexshipbuildingmuseum.org $7 per child/teen.

Cape Ann Big Band performs holiday music, 7 p.m., at the Manchester Essex High School auditorium. Tickets are $25 at door, or at Gloucester at Walgreen’s, Capt. Hook’s restaurant, Essen Bakery in Manchester, or online at www.capeannbigband.eventbrite.com.

Christmas concert, “The Reason for the Season,” 7 to 9 p.m., Emmanuel Community Church, 180 Western Ave. Music, comedy, food and fun for all ages. Doors open at 6 p.m. Donations appreciated.

Nutcracker party, 2 p.m., TOHP Burnham Library. “The Nutcracker” with storyteller Carolyn Martino, For children 5 and older. Followed by holiday fare. Free, but space limited. To register, call 978-768-7410 asap, or email awanner@mvlc.org.

Cape Ann cursillo community ultreya and pot-luck supper, 5 p.m., St. John the Baptist Church in Essex. Ultreya follows potluck at 6 p.m. All are welcome and need not have been on a cursillo encounter weekend.. Call Al Mitchell at 978-879-3655.
