All proceeds distributed through the YMCA. Sponsored by Gloucester Public School’s Transportation Department.

Book reading, 7 p.m., Temple Ahavat Achim, 86 Middle St. Anita Diamant reads from “Day After Night.” Free.

Holy Family Parish bingo, 6:30 p.m., Monsignor Sullivan Hall, St. Ann Church, Gloucester. Anyone 18 and older invited. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Proceeds support school and parish programs. 978-281-4820.

Saturday, Dec. 15

Cape Ann Farmers Market ‘Fare’ for the Holidays, 4:30 to 8 p.m., a special indoor farmers market for holiday shopping; local produce and Cape Ann culinaries and crafts, at Unitarian Universalist Church, corner of Middle and Church streets.

First Family and Friends Night, stores open late. Santa draws winning ticket for $1,500 shopping spree at 9 p.m. Restaurants offer free desserts and appetizers. ­Carolers stroll Main Street. Festive, fun evening for friends and family.
