Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Sidewalk Bazaar

The annual Sidewalk Bazaar has attracted local citizens and visitors to the heart of downtown Gloucester for decades, and this year, it takes place Aug. 1 through 3. One of the biggest retail events on the North Shore, it provides a boost to the many great shops and restaurants our city, and attracts unique crafters, food vendors and non-profits, transforming Main Street into a main event and exciting destination. Sunset boat cruise

SeniorCare will sponsor its fourth annual sunset boat cruise Thursday, July 11, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., aboard the Hurricane II, out of Gloucester. Tickets are $30 per person. Sponsorships are also available. Proceeds benefit services for local elders and disabled adults. Raffles, door prizes, picnic, music and more. Call 978-281-1750.

Memorial race

The 47th annual S.S. Crocker Memorial Race, held off the coast of Manchester, will take place Saturday, July 13. The race, which is open to all sailboats, is a fun-filled family event. Awards are given for first, second and third in each class. Wood and Fiberglass boats are welcome. Event is jointly sponsored by the Manchester Yacht Club and the Manchester Harbor Boat Club.
