Essex Goings On

Due to the volume of goings on listings received by the paper, listings are alternated once they run and the same listings are not printed every day.

Recycle Day fundraiser

The Docksiders Jazz Band will hold an Electronics and Appliance Recycle Day fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 20, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Gloucester High School parking lot, 32 Leslie O’Johnson Road, Gloucester. All towns are welcome.

Electronics

— ($5 each) computers, stereos, DVD players, scanners, copiers, etc.

Appliances

— ($10 each) dishwashers, dryers, stoves, microwaves, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, air conditioners, exercise equipment, lawn mowers, small engine items, snow blowers, etc.

Televisions

— $10-25 each

Monitors — $10

Cell phones, car batteries and bicycles may be dropped off for free. Unwanted bicycles will get a new home, with some going to Ghana and some staying in the U.S. Contact Dennis Wood at 508-277-7513 denwaynewood@yahoo.com.

Flu clinic

The Cape Ann Emergency Planning Team and the Cape Ann Boards of Health is offering these free flu vaccination clinics in Essex: Oct. 20, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Essex Fire Station, 24 Martin St.; and Nov. 6, (Election Day), 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Essex Senior Center Pickering St. The clinic is available to those 6 months of age and older. Wear short sleeves and bring health insurance card(s). Those without health insurance will not be refused.

Cursillo Ultreya

The first gathering of the season will be Saturday, Oct. 6, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Main Street, Essex. The potluck is at 5 p.m. and the ultreya follows at 6 p.m. All are welcome and it’s not necessary to have been on a Cursillo encounter weekend to attend. Call Al Mitchell at 978-879-3655.
