The Gloucester Democratic City Committee will meet on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. at Cape Ann Democratic Campaign Headquarters, in Walgreen’s Plaza. Congressman John Tierney, State Representative Ann-Margaret Ferrante, Candidate for Governor’s Council Eileen Duff, and representatives of President Obama’s and Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren’s campaigns will speak about campaign activities and volunteer opportunities. CoastSweep, the international beach clean up, is this Saturday, Oct. 6, at Long Beach at the Gloucester end from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All volunteers are welcome help clean and fill out a pollution data card, which only takes 30 minutes. The pollution results are sent to an international data base run by the Ocean Conservancy, which helps to draft legislation to keep our oceans healthy. This event is sponsored by the O’Maley Middle school and is a great community service effort. Snacks, stickers and cleanup tools provided.
