Manchester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. COA barbecue

The Council on Aging’s annual chicken and rib barbecue will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27, 12:15 p.m., at Tuck’s Point. Enjoy barbecued chicken, ribs, summer salads, dessert and beverages. Catered by Causeway restaurant. Cost is $10 per senior. Prepaid reservations due by Aug. 22. COA van available for transportation. For reservations, call 978-526-7500.

Zoo passes

The Manchester Public Library is offering passes for the Franklin Park Zoo and the Stone Zoo at reduced rates. Each pass admits six at $6 per adult, $4 per child. Visit hundreds of exotic animals from around the world right in the middle of Boston. Explore the wonders of a tropical rainforest, Australian outback and African savannah. Museum passes

Manchester Public Library offers passes for reduced entry fees to Cape Ann Historical Association, Children’s Museum of Boston, Institute of Contemporary Art, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, JFK Presidential Library and Museum, New England Aquarium, Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Science, Peabody Essex Museum, and Wheelock Family Theater. The library also offers a Massachusetts State Parks parking pass. Passes may be reserved in person; call 978-526-7711 or visit www.manchesterpl.org. The pass program is sponsored by the Friends of the Manchester Public Library.
