Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Lebanese picnic

The Lebanese American community of Cape Ann will hold its sixth annual picnic Sunday, Aug. 25, 11 a.m., at Stage Fort Park (opposite The Cupboard). There will be music and children’s games. Bring food, drinks and a grill. Save the date: Bishop Gregory John Mansour of the Eastern United States Diocese will celebrate a Pontifical Maronite liturgy for living and deceased members of the Lebanese American community of Cape Ann on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 6:30 p.m., at St. Ann Church. A reception will follow. All are welcome.

Youth choir auditions

Auditions for the 2013-14 season for the Honors Youth Choir of Chorus North Shore will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, 4 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, 2 High St., Rockport, and Thursday, Sept. 19, 3:30 p.m., at Ascension Memorial Church, 31 County St., Ipswich, followed by the first rehearsal. Auditions are open to all youth ages 10 through high school. The choir is sponsored by Chorus North Shore and is tuition free for youth.

Free outdoor concert

The 2013 Summer Concert Series wraps up for the season with local favorite Cape Ann Big Band on Sunday, Aug. 25, 7 p.m., at the Antonio Gentile Bandstand, Stage Fort Park. Admission is free and free parking is available. Bring a picnic dinner, lawn chairs and blankets. Restrooms are handicapped-accessible.
