Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Music in the courtyard

Cape Ann Museum, 27 Pleasant St., will present a performance by singer-songwriter Marina Evans on Friday, Aug. 30, from 4 to 5 p.m. She will perform alongside bassist Joe Cardoza and guitarist David Brown in the museum’s outdoor courtyard. The program is free and open to the public. In case of bad weather, the concert will be held indoors. Call 978-283-0455 or visit www.capeannmuseum.org.

Labor Day fireworks

The Gloucester Fireworks Committee is raising funds for the Labor Day weekend fireworks on Aug. 31. Donations, large or small, are needed. Tax-deductible donations may be sent to: The Gloucester Fund, 45 Middle St., Gloucester, MA 01930. (Include “fireworks” on the memo line). Email gloucesterinfo@gmail.com.

Working Waterfront Walking Tour

Schooner Adventure’s Gloucester’s Working Waterfront Walking Tour will be offered Saturday, Aug. 31, and Sept. 14 and 28, at 10 a.m., weather permitting. The 90-minute tour starts at the Fishermen’s Statue and ends on Harbor Loop. Cost is $5 per person. To register, call 978-281-8079. Wear comfortable shoes.

High Holy Days

Temple Ahavat Achim invites the community to celebrate these High Holy Days:

Sept. 4 — Erev Rosh Hashanah, 7 p.m.

Sept. 5 and 6 — First and second days of Rosh Hashanah, 9 a.m.
