Surplus items sale
The town of Essex will accept offers on surplus items in preparation for the Town Hall and TOHP Burnham Library improvement project. Items are primarily furniture, but include other miscellaneous items. All will be on public view at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and interested parties can insert offer slips into envelopes affixed to each item. Review of offers is not allowed, so once deposited, offer slips must remain in envelopes and obstructed from view. Deadline for offers is 2 p.m., and the chief procurement officer will announce offers and declare apparent buyers. Should buyers fail to appear by 3 p.m. with a check in the amount of their offer, the town reserves the right to sell the item to the next highest bidder. All unsold items will be disposed of as junk.
St. John the Baptist Church will hold a bake sale Saturday, Aug. 31, from 9 a.m. to noon. Features breads, cakes, pies and baked beans.
