Local Sports Briefs

Coaches are asked to call the Gloucester Daily Times sports department, at 978-283-7000, ext. 3444, to report results and box scores from each night’s games. Please call as early as possible after the game concludes.

Little Kids Track

The Little Kids Summer Track program begins Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the O’Maley Track.

The program is for kids ages 5-8 but if enough 9, 10, or 11 year olds show up they can compete as well. The program, which is free of charge and put on by the Gloucester Parks and Rec. Department, contains the 50 and 100 yard dashes and the long jump. It will run every Wednesday for the duration of the summer.

Mattress Sale Fundraiser

The Gloucester High School football team will be sponsoring its first mattress sale on Saturday, July 28, 2012.

Name brand (Restonic and Therapudic) mattress sets will be sold at 30 to 60% percent below retain prices and are all top quality mattresses with full factory warranties. Floor models will be on display at Gloucester High School on July 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., delivery is available.

Tide Academy Soccer Skills Clinic

The Tide Academy will again be running a soccer skill’s clinic this summer. The clinics are structured for five sessions every Saturday afternoon with a curriculum stressing a progression of personal soccer skill and technique in dribbling, passing, shooting. Attention will also be given to foot skills and tactical development in a 4v4 and 6v6 learning atmosphere.

The fee will be $110.00 which will include a Tide Academy T-Shirt. Each group will be placed in a minimum of 12 players to a maximum of 16 players a session.

Sessions 1 – 5 begins Saturday July 21 to Aug 18. Times: TBA.

Academy will be run by Matt Groppo & Armando Marnoto.
