Manchester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Blood Drive

The American Red Cross is having a Community Blood Drive on Monday, May 13, 2 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall,62 School St. A strong, stable community blood supply is a critical public health issue. You may donate blood by scheduling an appointment by calling 1-800-RED CROSS, or online at, or just stop by on your way home from work. Donating blood helps save lives.

Mother’s Day auction

The Manchester-Essex Rotary Club is hosting its annual Mother’s Day Auction Saturday, May 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Manchester American Legion Hall. This year’s theme is “Summer Beach Party” — so wear your best summer garb! Tickets are $25, including a buffet dinner, wine & cheese tasting, cash bar and silent and live auctions hosted by Senator Bruce Tarr! A great time to grab those last-minute Mothers Days gifts! Proceeds go to scholarships for graduating Manchester & Essex seniors plus local community service projects in Essex and Manchester. Community cleanup

The annual Manchester Community Cleanup will take place Saturday, May 11. Groups or individuals may stop by the Community Center at 8:30 a.m. or after to pick up supplies, refreshments and an area assignment. Volunteers will also be roaming the town to provide water and additional supplies if needed. Pizza and ice cream will follow at the MCC at noon.
