Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Press releases may be sent to Goings on, Gloucester Daily Times, 36 Whittemore St., Gloucester, MA 01930, sent via email to gdt@gloucestertimes.com or faxed to 978-282-4397. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Due to the volume of goings on listings received by the paper, listings are alternated once they run and the same listings are not printed every day.

Call for art

Artwork is sought for “twentythirteen: recent works,” an exhibition of paintings, photography, mixed-media and sculpture at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck in Gloucester. Guest juror is Blyth Hazen, an associate professor at Montserrat College of Art. Prizes will be awarded. Deadline is May 15. To request an entry form, email art@rockyneckartcolony.org.

Class reunion

Gloucester High School and St. Ann High School classmates are planning a 55-year reunion Friday, Aug. 2, at Woodman’s function hall in Essex. Letters have been mailed out; anyone who has not received a letter should call Marie Murray at 978-283-7333 or RoRo Aiello at 978-283-1664. Classmates are asked to remit by May 15.

School open enrollment

Annisquam Kindergarten and Nursery School, 1123 Washington St. is currently holding open enrollment for the 2013-14 school year. Call 978-283-2814 to schedule an appointment, or drop by at your convenience. Bring your child for a tour of the nonprofit and nondiscriminatory school.

AMVETS elections

AMVETS Post 32 will hold officer elections Wednesday, May 15, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the post, 14 Prospect St.

Legion elections

The Capt. Lester S. Wass American Legion, Post 3, will hold its annual elections Tuesday, May 28, 7 p.m., at the post. Members are also encouraged to attend the next executive board meeting Monday, May 13, at 7 p.m.
