The Essex County TRIAD — a partnership involving the sheriff and district attorney, police and fire chief, and the Council on Aging — is a community safety initiative focusing on empowering, educating and improving the safety, security and peace of mind of the senior population. New members are welcome to attend meetings on the third Tuesday of each month, 9:30 a.m., in Town Hall, Room 5. Next meeting is Sept. 17. Call 978-526-7500.
Hearthside Book Group
On Tuesday, Sept. 10, the Manchester Public Library’s Hearthside Book Group meets at 4 p.m. to discuss John Adams by David McCullough. The group chooses both fiction and non-fiction books for their discussions, and new members are encouraged to join. The library provides the books a month ahead of time. CAAA golf tournament
The third annual Christopher Cutler Rich Golf Tournament to benefit Cape Ann Animal Aid will take place Monday, Sept. 23, at Bass Rocks Golf Club, Gloucester. Features a day of golf, followed by a celebration dinner with awards, prizes and a live auction.
