Rockport Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Press releases may be sent to Goings on, Gloucester Daily Times, 36 Whittemore St., Gloucester, MA 01930, sent via email to gdt@gloucestertimes.com or faxed to 978-282-4397. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Due to the volume of goings on listings received by the paper, listings are alternated once they run and the same listings are not printed every day.

CAAA fundraiser

Join Kaminski and Heath’s Tea Room in Rockport for an afternoon tea and an appraisal on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m., to benefit Cape Ann Animal Aid. Cost is $25 per person and includes a verbal appraisal for one item, one scone, four tea sandwiches, one beverage and one tea treat. Additional verbal appraisals will be available for a $5 donation with a limit of three per person. Reservations are required; call 978-309-3388 or email heath@heathstearoom.com.

Live auction

The Unitarian Universalist Society of Rockport will sponsor a live auction Saturday, Sept. 14, 6 p.m., at the Rockport Community House, 58 Broadway. Items includes furniture, art work, quilts, exercise equipment, a sailing trip and more. All are welcome. Admission is $5 per person and includes dessert. Books sought

The Friends of the Rockport Library is preparing for the annual fall book sale to be held Oct. 18-20. Donations of clean books in good condition are being accepted at the library desk during library hours. Hardbacks, paperbacks, children’s books, DVDs and books on tape are sought for the sale. No textbooks, magazines or encyclopedias will be accepted. All proceeds support programs for children and adults at the library.
