Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Press releases may be sent to Goings on, Gloucester Daily Times, 36 Whittemore St., Gloucester, MA 01930, sent via email to gdt@gloucestertimes.com or faxed to 978-282-4397. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Due to the volume of goings on listings received by the paper, listings are alternated once they run and the same listings are not printed every day.

Recycling drive

An electronics recycling drive to benefit the Annisquam Village Hall Association will take place Saturday, July 13, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Annisquam Village Hall, Leonard Street, rain or shine. Most items with a battery or plug will be collected for a $1 per pound fee. Fees are payable by cash, check, MasterCard or VISA. Seniors and teachers, as well as those recycling 100 or more pounds, receive a 15 percent discount. No fees for cell phones. No hazardous materials accepted. A share of the net proceeds will be donated to the Annisquam Village Hall Association. Call Christopher at 617-233-4120 or email onehealthyocean@gmail.com.

Music & Meditation

The Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church, corner of Middle and Church streets, presents an encore performance of Dr. Michael Bresnan and the Dorymates as part of a series called “Music & Meditation in the Meetinghouse” on Sunday, July 28, at 7:30 p.m A social gathering and refreshments will follow. Open to the public with a free-will offering.

Class of 1943

The Gloucester High School Class of 1943 will hold a 70-year reunion Saturday, Aug. 10, noon, at the Gloucester House restaurant. Notices have been sent. Those who have not received a notice should call George Monbourquette at 978-356-8611 or Edward Larkin at 978-526-1733.
