The Essex Youth Triathlon kick-off Saturday, Aug. 3, at Chebacco Lake, Centennial Grove and Surrounding Area in Essex. Swim, bike and run in this annual event sponsored by Essex Board of Health for Cape Ann youth of all abilities, ages 5-15 to encourage activity and healthy habits. Paint Essex

Saturday, Aug. 17, is Paint Essex Day. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the town becomes an open air studio, and from 5 to 9 p.m., the wet paint masterpieces — seascapes, landscapes, street scenes and more — go up on the block in a silent and live auction at Cox Reservation, 82 Eastern Ave. Features live music by Old Cold Tater, hors d’oeuvres and a wine reception. Proceeds support a 2015 Art Scholarship dedicated to promoting Essex as a travel destination.

Summer meals program

The Open Door Food Pantry will serve free summer meals, to children 18 and under, from now until Aug. 30, at these locations: The Open Door, Riverdale, Willowood and Veterans School. All lunches are served Monday-Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A full list of all sites, including teen supper sites may be found online at www.foodpantry.org.

New website

The Essex National Heritage Commission has launched the redesign of its website, www.essexheritage.org, to provide visitors, members and partner organizations with more relevant, easy-to-find information on historic, cultural and natural resources in Essex County. An updated Essex Coastal Scenic Byway website at www.CoastalByway.org features sites along the 85-mile state-designated Coastal Byway.

Monthly lunches

Seniors age 60 and over are invited to lunch at the Essex Senior Center on the first and third Thursday of the month. Lunch is provided by SeniorCare. A $2 donation is requested. For reservations, call 978-768-7932.

Bible study

A women’s Bible study with Beth Moore, “James: Mercy Triumphs,” will be held Wednesdays, 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the First Congregational Church of Essex. Child care is available. Call Rama at 978-768-3319.

Meals on Wheels

SeniorCare Meals on Wheels program seeks volunteer drivers in Essex. Call SeniorCare’s Nutrition Department at 978-281-1750 or toll-free at 1-866-927-1050.

Story hour

Children, ages 3 to 5 with a caregiver, can enjoy songs, stories, crafts and fun Thursdays, 10 a.m., at the TOHP Burnham Library, 30 Martin St. Call 978-768-7410 or email dfrench@mvlc.org.

Business counseling

The Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce offers free small-business counseling at its office at 33 Commercial St., Gloucester, on the first and third Thursday of the month. Yankee Networkers

The Yankee Networkers Chapter of BNI, a business referral organization, meets every Wednesday at the Farm Bar & Grill, 233 Western Ave. Business breakfasts are served from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Visitors are invited.

Achievement award

Donations are being accepted for the Neil G. Ramsden Academic Achievement Award — a memorial award given by the teachers of Essex Elementary School to Essex high school seniors who graduated from EES, and are enrolling in at least a two-year program of study. The award is based on academic achievement, citizenship and service. Donations may be made to Essex Elementary School with “Achievement Award” on the memo line, c/o Susan Hardy, Essex Elementary School, 12 Story St., Essex, MA 01929.

Blood pressure clinics

The Essex Council on Aging holds a blood pressure clinic the third Thursday of each month, 10:30 a.m., at the Senior Center, 17 Pickering St.

Symphony Singers auditions

Cape Ann Symphony Singers are holding auditions for all vocal parts (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) Tuesday, Sept. 3, and Thursday, Sept. 5, 6:45 to 9 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 4 Cleaves St., Rockport. Cape Ann Symphony Singers rehearse every Tuesday, Sept. 10-Nov. 19, 7 to 9 p.m., at the UU Church in Rockport.
