Gloucester people in the news

Alexander Rasmussen has graduated as valedictorian of the Colby College class of 2013 with a degree in mathematics. A 2009 graduate of Gloucester High School, he is the son of Sarah Rasmussen and John Rasmussen of Gloucester. He will attend the University of California at Santa Barbara in the fall as a doctoral candidate in mathematics.

Stephanie Wright has been named to the 2013 spring semester chancellor’s list at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth in North Dartmouth.

Nicholas Balsbaugh has graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, with a degree in computer science.

Brian Hand has graduated, cum laude, from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, with a Bachelor of Arts degree English.

Marco Bettencourt, Sara Dolloff, Kara Papa, Megan Pereen and Caroline Stjarnborg have been named to the 2013 spring semester dean’s list at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth in North Dartmouth.

Patrick George, a student majoring in rhetoric, has been named to the 2012-13 winter semester dean’s list at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. A 2009 graduate of Pingree School, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. George of Gloucester. He was captain of the football team in 2012.

Susanna Justice and Jacklyn Linsky have earned dean’s list status for the 2013 spring semester at Lasell College in Boston. Both members of the Class of 2015, Justice is majoring in management while Linsky is majoring in English.

Jack Gantt was awarded the Cardinal Medeiros Scholarship, a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to Boston University. The son of Charles and Deborah Gantt, he is a 2013 graduate of St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, and will enroll in BU’s School of Management, Class of 2017, beginning in the fall 2013 semester.
