Gloucester Goings On

Penny sale

St. Ann School will host a giant penny sale Saturday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. Local and Cape Ann area businesses, including restaurants, have donated gift certificates, toys and merchandise.

Proceeds benefit the school.

Meet the cartoonist

Gloucester born cartoonist Mark Parisi will sign his new 2013 page-a-day cartoon calendar Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Weathervane on Main Street, starting at 6 p.m. during the annual Ladies Night Shopping event.

Parisi is the creator of the award-winning syndicated cartoon feature, “Off the Mark,” which appears in the Gloucester Times. Visit

Legion Christmas party

The Capt. Lester S. Wass American Legion, Post 3, will host its annual Christmas party Sunday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m. All members of the Post, Auxiliary and Squadron, as well as prospective members are invited.

Christmas fair

The annual Annisquam Sewing Circle Christmas fair will take place Saturday, Dec. 1, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Annisquam Village Hall, Leonard Street. Features fresh holiday greens, centerpieces, wreaths and plants, as well as handcrafts and a silent auction.

Copies of the Circle’s cookbook, “A Circle of Recipes,” will be for sale. A three-course luncheon will be served at two seatings: 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Cost is $15 per person. Reservations are recommended; call 978-283-2247.
