Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Meet the cartoonist

Gloucester-born cartoonist Mark Parisi will sign his new 2013 page-a-day cartoon calendar Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Weathervane on Main Street, starting at 6 p.m. during the annual Ladies Night Shopping event. Parisi is the creator of the award-winning syndicated cartoon feature, “Off the Mark,” which appears in the Gloucester Times. Visit www.offthemark.com.

Legion

Christmas party

The Capt. Lester S. Wass American Legion, Post 3, will host its annual Christmas party Sunday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m. All members of the Post, Auxiliary and Squadron, as well as prospective members are invited.

Soulful Strings

On Sunday, Dec. 9, Gloucester’s Unitarian Universalist Church presents the “Soulful Strings Holiday Concert” with guitarist Ken Bonfield and cellist Kristen Miller. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., followed by the concert at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door. The UU is located on Middle Street at the corner of Church Street.

Women’s Community Club

The Women’s Community Club of Magnolia will hold its holiday party and Yankee Swap on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 7 p.m., at the home of Linda Foster. Everyone is asked to bring a $20 gift. If your last name begins A-K you will be called to help with refreshments. Call Linda at 978-526-8750.
