Manchester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Cape Ann Big Band

The Cape Ann Big Band will perform holiday music Saturday, Dec. 8, 7 p.m., at the Manchester Essex High School auditorium. Tickets are $25 and are available in Gloucester at Walgreen’s and Capt. Hook’s restaurant, at Essen Bakery in Manchester, or online at www.capeannbigband.eventbrite.com. Tickets also available at the door.

NSHS meeting

The North Shore Horticultural Society will meet Tuesday, Dec. 11, 7:30 p.m., at American Legion Hall, 14 Church St. Leo Blanchette will present “Perennial Shade Gardening.” Members and guests are welcome, and all are encouraged to bring holiday goodies to share. Refreshments served. Call 978-927-8829.

MCC holiday fair

The Manchester Community Center will host the fourth annual Holiday Fair with Gifts that Care on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Features toys, jewelry, paper products, purses, artwork, house wares and collectibles. Items either made from recycled products, benefit charity or are fair trade goods. All proceeds benefit Beverly Bootstraps, Wellspring and Cape Ann Animal Aid. Snack bar features Turner’s Chowder and homemade kid’s meals. Capt. Dusty will donate a portion of its proceeds to The Plummer Home for Boys. Donations also accepted.
