Thank you letters

Family of Mary T. Feener

We would like to thank Dr. Thomas Smith, Dr. Michael Arsenian and their staff, especially Lisa and Michelle; SeniorCare's Liz Phillips and Kate Desmond; Action, PRN; the Golden Living Nursing Home's Eric, Janeen, Marcia, Nancy and Mike and all their staff. Our mother loved the Adult Day by Day Care Center, where she assisted as a helper and attended later in life as a client. Director Martha Rappoli and all her wonderful staff made her days memorable and meaningful. We thank especially her dear neighbors Jerry and Marcia Ciolino and Russell and Janet Gray, and also our Aunt Mary, who were always there for her and so helpful to us. All of you and many others,, including family and friends, helped us care for our mother, giving her the best quality of life we could. She felt loved by you all and truly appreciated all efforts on her behalf. Thank you all.

Friends of Kevin Riley

We would like to thank all of those individuals and businesses that so graciously supported our efforts to help a young boy in need. As the word spread about our Gloucester All-Stars baseball game, so did the momentum of our efforts. Thank you to Mayor Kirk and all of the city councilors who participated. Thank you to school administrators, firefighters, police officers, friends and family and even Kevin's dentist, Dr. Ahlin.

Thank you to the Gloucester Daily Times and the Cape Ann Beacon for the great coverage. Thank you to the Gloucester Little League and Gloucester Fund for your support.

When we came up with this idea, we had no idea that the community would embrace it as they did. The support of the local businesses that donated raffle items and supplies was overwhelming. Never did we hear the words, "Sorry, I can't help."¬ù This is Gloucester. That doesn't happen. As each day went by, the emails and phone calls from people wanting to help increased exponentially.

It is a very satisfying feeling to know that we live in a community that, when called upon, people are there to lend a helping hand.

Thank you,

The Friends of Kevin Riley

Stories, songs and more series

A heartfelt thank you to all who helped make the twenty-first annual Stories, Songs and More program at Stage Fort Park a success.

Special thanks go to the financial supporters of the five-week program. The series was supported, in part, by a grant from the Gloucester Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. It was also sponsored by Cape Ann Savings Bank; Common Crow Natural Market and Green Life Natural Living; and Gorton's Seafoods; and the Matz Children's Fund of the Sawyer Free Library; with additional support from Carroll K. Steele Insurance Agency, Inc. and Turtle Alley Chocolates.

Sincere thanks, also, to the City of Gloucester Beach and Recreation Department for permission to use one of the most beautiful spots in the world; Jan Bell and the helpful staff of the Welcoming Center; Christina Parisi of the Gloucester Daily Times and Jane Fosberry Enos of the Cape Ann Beacon for publicity; and our wonderful audiences.

Thank you all for a great summer.
