Essex Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Blood pressure clinics

The Essex Council on Aging holds a blood pressure clinic the third Thursday of each month, 10:30 a.m., at the Senior Center, 17 Pickering St.

Equine Expo

The Essex County Trail Association’s 18th annual Equine Expo will take place Saturday, April 27, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Topsfield Fairgrounds. Features tack, riding apparel, stable equipment, giftware, herbal products, supplements, equine massage, photography, equine publications, tack trunks, rescue organizations, home décor and more. Admission is $5, free for children under 10. A demonstration ring in the arena will run all day. Proceeds benefit ECTA, which helps protect access to the trails and open lands throughout Hamilton, Wenham, Ipswich, Topsfield, Essex and West Newbury. Happy As A Clam race

The Happy As A Clam 5K Road Race and One-Mile Fun Run, a fundraiser for the Essex Elementary PTO, will take place Friday, May 3, at Essex Elementary School, 12 Story St. Registration opens at 4 p.m., followed by the race at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $25 for the 5K, $8 for the fun run.
