America’s Boating eight-week safety course begins, 7 to 9 p.m., Sandy Bay Yacht Club. Basic navigational rules contained in Federal recreational boating regulations. Students obtain a boat license or safety certification in most states that require such documentation. $60 per student for eight weeks. To register, call Ed Walsh at 978-927-1179.

Wednesday, May 1

Rockport High School Quiz Team benefit dinner, 5 to 6:30 p.m., RHS cafeteria. Chicken and ribs dinner (courtesy of Outback Steakhouse). Proceeds benefit team’s trip to Atlanta for the National Tournament of High School Quiz Teams. $12. Tickets available from team members or by emailing lhimml@gmail.com.

Rockport American Legion Auxiliary meeting, Unit 98, 7 p.m. at the Legion Hall. Members urged to attend for our annual MemorialService for our departed members and to plan for the annual Poppy Drive and Memorial Day

Thursday, may 9

Open Door’s annual Empty Bowl Dinner, 4 to 8 p.m., Cruiseport Gloucester. Extra parking at Good Harbor Beach, with regular trolley service to and from event. $15, $10 for children under 10.
