Rare Books benefit
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Rockport Public Library, the Friends of the Library will host a party at the Community Center on Wednesday, May 15, at 6 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. by a presentation titled “Is There Value in Your Old and Rare Books?” by Kenneth Gloss, proprietor of the internationally-known Brattle Book Shop in Boston’s Downtown Crossing. Reception includes wine, cheese and appetizers. Cost is $15 per person. Proceeds benefit the library’s programs. Reservations are required; tickets are available at Toad Hall Book Store in Rockport. Motif Scavenger Hunt
As part of Motif No. 1 Day festivities, more than 50 participating windows will create a scavengers’ tag treasure trail in a two-day, town-wide event, Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Call Dawn Noble at 978-546-5868.
RAA Arts & Flowers
The Rockport Art Association will sponsor the 21st annual Arts & Flowers reception Friday, May 17, 6 to 8 p.m., in its Hibbard Gallery, 12 Main St. Features more than two dozen floral interpretations inspired by artist member’s artwork from the first summer show.
