Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Due to the volume of goings on listings received by the paper, listings are alternated once they run and the same listings are not printed every day.

Penny sale

Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect St., will host a penny sale Saturday, May 18, 7 p.m., in the parish hall. Sweet bread, groceries, baked goods and more will be available.

Choral, organ concert

St. John’s Episcopal Church, 48 Middle St., will kick off its 150th anniversary celebration with a choral and organ concert, coordinated by music director Mark Nelson, on Sunday, May 19, at 4 p.m. Open to the public. Reception follows in the parish hall.

Class of 1983

The Gloucester High School Class of 1983 will hold its 30th reunion Saturday, June 22, 6 to 11 p.m., at the Gloucester House restaurant. Cost is $47 per person. Voting information

Absentee ballot voting for the June 25th Special Senate Election is now open in the City Clerk’s Office during regular business hours. Absentee ballot voting closes June 24, at noon. Ballots can be mailed to homebound voters upon request. Send a signed written request or visit www.gloucester-ma.gov for a request form. Call 978-281-9720. The last day to register to vote or make changes to voter registrations is June 5 (office will be open until 8 p.m.) Nomination papers are available for this fall’s municipal election of mayor, City Council and School Committee. Deadline to submit signatures to the Board of Registrars is Aug. 13. The municipal preliminary will be Oct. 1, and the municipal election will be held Nov. 5.
