Poet's Corner: If Jesus Came to Gloucester

If Jesus came to Gloucester

To be born again

He would find many willing hearts

Ready to receive him

If Jesus came to Gloucester

He would find nativity scenes

Celebrating his birthday

Two thousand years ago

If Jesus came to Gloucester

He would bless the fish

And the fishermen

The lobstermen and clammers

If Jesus came to Gloucester

Brotherhood would prevail

Rich and poor, multi-colors of the skin

Multi-ethnicity

If Jesus came to Gloucester

He would long be remembered

As Savior and Messiah

To a world torn apart

If Jesus came to Gloucester

The children would receive presents

In his honor

And the giving would be glad

If Jesus came to Gloucester

The women would kneel down

In virtue

Their hearts full to over-flowing

Jesus came to Gloucester

One chilly Christmas Day

We wish he would stay

In our hearts forever
