Gloucester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Senior art tour

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 10:30 a.m., Juni Van Dyke, Senior Center Art Instructor at Rose Baker Senior Center, will lead a group to visit Salem’s Peabody Essex Museum to explore the exhibit “HATS”. Please call the reception desk at 978 281-9765 to register.

Grief Recovery support group meets

G.R.A.S.P (Grief Recovery after a Substance Passing) a support group for families or individuals who have lost a loved as a result of substance use or addiction, will meet the first Thursday of every month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Highland Hall inside the auditorium at Salem Hospital.For more information, visit: www.grasphelp.org[grasphelp.org, or call GRASP NorthShore at 978-354-2660.

Memory Loss

Lisa Orgettas, Executive Director of Spectrum Adult Day Health in Beverly, will be guest speaker at the Rose Baker Senior Center, on Wednesday, March 20 from 10-11 a.m., presenting ‘Memory Loss: What’s Normal, What’s Not.’ There is no fee. but pre-registration is requested. Call the Rose Baker reception desk at 978-281-9765: walk-in guests are also welcome.

Diabetes Screening

Addison Gilbert Hospital will hold a free Diabetes Screening and Blood Pressure Screening at the Rose Baker Senior Center, on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 10 a.m. to 12 noon: fasting is not required. The diabetes screening will be conducted by Certified Diabetes Educator Lynn O’Reilly, MS, RD, LDN, CDE and the blood pressure screening will be conducted by Jennifer Garafola, Clinical Exercise Physiologist.
