Rockport Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Press releases may be sent to Goings on, Gloucester Daily Times, 36 Whittemore St., Gloucester, MA 01930, sent via email to gdt@gloucestertimes.com or faxed to 978-282-4397. Please include a contact person’s name and telephone number and send at least two weeks prior to the event. The Times will do its best to run the announcement at least once prior to the event. Local auditions

The Fishtown Players will hold auditions for its April production of Martin McDonagh’s “The Lonesome West” on Thursday, Jan. 24, 7 p.m., at the Rocky Neck Cultural Center, 6 Wonson St. Auditions will be based on readings from the script and are available online at www.fishtownplayers.com. You may also prepare a short (1-2 minute) monologue. The show will run for two weekends (April 4-14) at the Gloucester Stage Company. Call 978-515-7957.

‘Grease’

The Rockport Middle School will perform the musical “Grease” on Jan. 24-26, 7 p.m., and Jan. 27, 2 p.m., at the school’s John E. Lane Performing Arts Center. There are two casts who will perform on two nights each; the first cast will be Thursday and Saturday, and the second cast will be Friday and Sunday. Admission is $10, $8 for students/seniors.

Then & Now

Pigeon Cove “Then & Now,” a computerized photo presentation put to music by Gilbert McCarthy will be held at the Rockport Senior Center, Friday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. Please RSVP 978-546-2574.

Senior techs!

The Rockport Senior Center offers a class for seniors exploring paragraphs, margins, formatting, header and footers, saving and organizing files, and inserting pictures and objects. Meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. to noon, starting Feb. 4. Cost is $60 for six classes.
