Manchester Goings On

Low Vision

The Low Vision Support group will meet on Monday, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. at the Plains Community Room. All are welcome for this hour or so of conversation regarding low vision and issues related to vision. This meeting welcomes Gail Yarnell from the Talking Book Library at Perkins, providing updates on current technology and programs available. Call the COA for information/registration at 978-526-7500. The van will be available for transportation.

Winery trip

The Council on Aging will travel to Mill River Winery in Rowley for a wine tasting tour Wednesday, Feb. 13. All wines are available for purchase. Stop for lunch at the Bradford Tavern. Van pick up starts at 10:45 a.m., and return is expected by 2:30 p.m. The winery tour and tasting is $5. To register, call 978-526-7500.

Kindergarten registration

Manchester Memorial School will hold kindergarten registration Tuesday, Feb. 5, 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, Feb. 6, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the conference room. Parents/guardians must bring: original birth certificate, current photo of child, proof of residency, and a completed registration form. Visit Screening take place June 5, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; June 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and June 7, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children should wear sneakers and long pants for screenings. ‘Practical Spirituality’

Inspirational author, video-producer and song-writer Jorgelina “Jayzee” Zeoli will present “Practical Spirituality” on Thursdays Feb. 14-March 7, 1 to 2 p.m., at the Manchester Community Center. This class/self-help group will discuss short spiritual readings by different authors, addressing the struggles of our human condition. Simple practices will be taught to support and guide the search for empowerment, meaning, contentment and joy. Cost is $60 for four sessions. To register, call 978-768-7371 or email
