Manchester Goings On

Events listed here are open to the public and sponsored by nonprofit groups unless otherwise noted. Tax advice

The AARP Foundation tax-aide and SeniorCare RSVP programs will offer free income tax advice to qualified seniors and low-income residents. All volunteer counselors are trained by the IRS. Tax volunteer Mary Gundy will be in the Council on Aging office Thursdays, 1:15 to 4 p.m., with appointments scheduled every half hour. Bring copies of the previous year’s federal and state tax returns, any forms including W-2s and other relevant material showing income for the year. Call 978-526-7500 for an appointment.

‘Practical Spirituality’

Inspirational author, video-producer and song-writer Jorgelina “Jayzee” Zeoli will present “Practical Spirituality” on Thursdays Feb. 14-March 7, 1 to 2 p.m., at the Manchester Community Center. This class/self-help group will discuss short spiritual readings by different authors, addressing the struggles of our human condition. Simple practices will be taught to support and guide the search for empowerment, meaning, contentment and joy. Cost is $60 for four sessions. Open Door pantry

The Open Door food pantry, 28 Emerson Ave., Gloucester, serves residents of Manchester, Essex, Gloucester, Rockport and Ipswich with a full-service pantry of milk, eggs, bread, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, and a variety of dry and canned goods.
