The Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce’s 33rd annual $25,000 game is now underway. Winning tickets will be drawn Thursday, Oct. 3, 5 to 7 p.m., at the Gloucester House restaurant, 63 Rogers St. A 50/50 raffle and door prizes will be awarded. Tickets are $100 and are available at the Chamber office, 33 Commercial St. Each ticket admits two participants to the event, however, participants do not have to be present to win. Cash prizes are as follows: first prize — $10,000; second prize — $5,000; third prize — $2,500; fourth prize — $1,000 each with six winners chosen; and fifth prize — $500 each with three winners chosen. The second annual AMVETS Riders event to benefit homeless veterans will take place Sunday, Sept. 22. Registration from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Ride kicks off at 11 a.m. Cost is $20 per rider, $10 per passenger and walk-in. Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 29. All proceeds benefit homeless veterans. Ride begins and ends at AMVETS, Post 32, 14 Prospect St.
The Cape Ann Cursillo Community will hold its first ultreya and pot-luck of the season Saturday, Oct. 5, at St. John’s Church in Essex. The pot-luck is at 5 p.m., followed by the ultreya at 6 p.m. All are welcome and need not have been on a cursillo encounter weekend to attend. Call Al Mitchell at 978-879-3655.
