Yard sale
The First Congregational Church of Rockport, 12 School St., will hold a yard sale on Saturday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to benefit the mission trip to Irwin, Pa. Meet the Boats
On Sunday, June 3, Sandy Bay Yacht Club is hosting an open house coffee from 9:30 to 11 a.m., and a "Meet the Boats" event from 10 to 11 a.m. for all those interested. Join us for coffee on the porch and an opportunity to tour the boats in the racing fleets at Sandy Bay Yacht Club. All are welcome.
Hula hoops!

Yoga dance class
The Rockport Recreation Department offers a Kripalu Yoga Dance class, for all abilities and body types, Tuesdays, 6 to 7 p.m., April 24-May 15, at the Rockport Community House. Cost is $8 per class, $30 for the four-week session. Call 978-546-1309.
Dog licenses
Dog licenses are now available at the town clerk's office during regular business hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $10 for spayed or neutered dog or $16 for non-spayed or neutered. Rabies vaccination certificates must be presented at the time of registration. Licenses are due by May 31; a $5 late fee will be imposed for each month after that date.
Boating course
A seven-week boating course, approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard and the state of Massachusetts, will be offered Tuesdays, 7 to 9 p.m., at the Sandy Bay Yacht Club, beginning May 1. The 14-hour introductory course is for both sail and power boaters. Topics include: navigation rules, chart work, GPS, marine radio, boat handling and trailering. Successfully completing the course meets the educational requirements for boat operation in all states. The course is free, but student materials cost $50 and may be shared. Arts scholarship
The Cape Ann Shakespeare Troupe has established a $500 scholarship to be awarded to a Cape Ann high school senior who has been accepted to a college theater arts program. Prerequisites include participation in high school drama programs and involvement in one CAST production. Parking stickers
Rockport transfer station and parking stickers expire on May 31. Stickers are now on sale at Town Hall, Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m, to 2 p.m. and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The 2012 — 13 mail-in sticker forms are available at Town Hall or can be downloaded from Rockport's website: town.rockport.ma.us.

The Sandy Bay Historical Society museum on King Street is open Mondays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., for research. Cost is $5 for nonmembers, free for members. Tours of the museum are also offered.
Tai Ji class
A tai ji class is held every Wednesday, 9 to 10:30 a.m., at Rockport Senior Center, on the second floor of the Community House. Taught by Meredith Morgan, the class is appropriate for beginners as well as those who have done tai ji in the past. Tai ji is a gentle movement class that benefits health and well-being.
Meditation class

At the Old Sloop
On Friday, June 1, at 7:30 p.m., the Old Sloop Coffeehouse presents Brother Sun, at the handicapped-accessible First Congregational Church of Rockport, 12 School St. Brother Sun's nationally-touring folk artists — Pat Wictor, Greg Greenway, and Joe Jencks— are known for music as warm as a campfire, informed by deep gospel, blues, and folk roots. Rummage Sale
St. Mary's Episcopal Church Broadway in Rockport will hold its Spring Rummage Sale on Friday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to noon. Presorted, good quality clothing will be on sale; as well as white elephants, linens, books, CDs, DVDs and toys. Coffee and Nisu bread will be served. All proceeds benefit the church's outreach program, supporting individuals and agencies on Cape Ann, in the nation, and the world.
Navy Weekend
The Rockport Navy Committee (RocNavCom) and the Town of Rockport will be hosting The U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) Offshore Sail Training Squadron (OSTS) July 13 — 16. Five NA-44 foot sailboats arrive Friday morning and cast off Monday morning, and will be open for tours Saturday and Sunday, with midshipmen on hand, from 12 noon till 4 p.m. A replica of an 1812 USS Constitution gun deck arrives Sunday, with a master gun team in period uniforms giving hourly demonstrations on Bearskin Neck from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. US Navy (USN) sailors from Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island will also participate in social and sporting community events open to the public. Navy hosts needed
The RocNavCom needs families to host the forty midshipmen and ten advisors during their weekend in Rockport, July 13 — 16. The midshipmen range in age from 18 to 22. Families will be responsible for room and board Friday, Saturday and Sunday; and for transportating them to morning events and returning them to T-wharf Monday morning. Housing will hold to the Navy standard buddy system, so hosts must be able to accommodate at least two midshipmen or advisors. (Note; many of midshipmen's activities include meals). The weekend's success relies on the generous support of Rockport's residents and businesses. To help defer costs, a 50/50 raffle will be held. Tickets are available from committee members, and the drawing will be at the softball game at Evans Field on Saturday night (game starts at 6:30 p.m.). Scholarship fund
The Linda Wieditz Scholarship Fund is accepting donations. A scholarship, given in memory of the much beloved music teacher in the Rockport Public Schools, is presented at the Rockport High School graduation each year to one or more graduates pursuing music studies in higher education. Pathways volunteers
Pathways' Cape Ann Families seeks men and women to volunteer as parent mentors. The program has been running for 20 years, serving parents of the Cape Ann community who are experiencing stress or isolation. Video Club for teens
Cape Ann TV is enrolling middle and high school students in its After School Video Club. The program, led by staff member Lisa Smith, meets Tuesdays, 3 to 5 p.m., at Cape Ann TV Studio, 38 Blackburn Center. Throughout the school year, students learn both studio and field production, brainstorm scripts, produce short creative videos, and produce interview style programming. Students develop hands-on experience with equipment and learn all aspects of video production. All club-produced programming will be aired on Channel 12. Musicians sought
Rockport Legion Band, a community band founded in 1932, is a non-audition musical group that plays all year, and is looking for competent musicians who play traditional concert band instruments. Car wash
The Rockport High School Class of 2015 will hold a car wash on Saturday, May 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Department of Public Works yard off of Upper Main Street, behind the police station. Donations benefit the RHS freshman class.
Tennis Lessons

This summer, the Rockport COA is offering two motor coach excursions to Boston; Thursday, June 21, for a Fenway Park tour, with lunch at the No Name Restaurant and a visit to the U.S.S.
