Pumpkin Carving Contest!
All pumpkins are welcome on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. when Art Haven hosts its sixth annual costume party pumpkin carving contest at its 180B Main Street location, with judging held around the corner at The Hive, Art Haven’s Community Center, at 11 Pleasant St. Even if you didn’t carve it at Art Haven, bring your pumpkin down to the The Hive to enter the contest! Kids compete for first, second and third place prizes for gift certificates to Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt. Pumpkins will be supplied while supplies last. Adults can carve at $5 for small pumpkins and $10 for large pumpkins. This event is possible with the support of Wolf Hill Home and Garden Center and Rockport National Bank. On Halloween Day, parents can bring their toddlers over to Orange Leaf to paint pumpkins from 10 to 2 p.m. Costumes are eerily encouraged!!!
495th reformation commemoration
On Sunday, Oct. 27, the First Baptist Church of Rockport joins with Protestant churches across the globe in commemorating the 495th anniversary of Protestant Reformation. In addition to a special sermon, the service will include music from the Lighthouse Brass group and the Rockport Baptist Choir. The community is invited to this service, which starts at 10:30 a.m. The First Baptist Church is located at 4 High Street in Rockport.
