Viral video: Top recruit picks Alabama; mom rolls eyes

A top recruit made his verbal commitment to the University of Alabama during a live television announcement Thursday night, but it's his mother’s reaction to the news that's getting attention.

Landon Collins, a top defensive back from Dutchtown High School in Geismar, La., said his decision came down to the two schools competing for the BCS title Monday – Alabama and LSU.

Collins told ESPN that both are great schools, but he ultimately picked Alabama, saying "Roll Tide, roll."

As Collins put on an Alabama glove, his mother shook her head slightly and appeared to roll her eyes. She seemed visibly disappointed in the announcement, and when asked for her reaction, she said, "I feel like LSU is a better place for him to be. LSU Tigers, number one. Go Tigers."

Collins seemed to take her reaction in stride, saying he hoped LSU fans in his home state would still root for him.
